A Full Decade of Techman's World! 🎂🎉

Even though I don't post a lot, following annual tradition I'd like to announce that this site is now a whopping 10 years old! A whole decade! I can remember the birth of this place like it happened yesterday...I was awake around 1:22 AM fooling around on the internet on how to make my own blog/website, and I eventually started Techman's World on the Blogger platform. That said, every 18th of December adds another notch to the metaphorical rope that is the life of Techman's World.

I thought I would do things a little differently this year and instead go through the highlights of what I wrote over the past decade. When I first made the site, I thought I was going to be covering tech news...but eventually I pivoted away from that after getting burnt out on the workload. It also did not help that I had no money to buy any of the new technology anyway.

Note: As some of you may have noticed over the years, some posts resulted in having broken images. Some of that is due to general link rot, but also due to a mistake I made in OneDrive. Images for Techman's World are generally stored in OneDrive under a public folder, requiring no special permissions to access a raw resource directly. I accidentally removed this sharing option at one point but was unable to add it back as OneDrive removed public folder sharing in favor of "users must have the link" access. Those links included a special authentication key. This key has to manually be added to all existing image embeds. I could export the blog and edit the image links in an automated fashion, but re-importing without having breakage is not guaranteed. Thus, I have updated the most important posts through the years.

Moving Forward

I intend to keep running Techman's World for as long as I can. Things have changed a lot in my life since I started running this website, for sure. I no longer have the same passion for writing text as much as I used to, but now I do a different form of writing. I started this website when I was essentially a kid. I grew up, went through school and university, and now I am in my career. For those curious, I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

I might actually move to writing more about my programming adventures here, making good on something I have been talking about for years now. I will probably archive a lot of the old news stories here, as they ultimately served no purpose and many of them now have broken links and images. If you want a historical view of technology from a decade ago, the Archive.org Wayback Machine has you covered.

Anyway, if you have been following me since the beginning, I really appreciate you sticking around. Please let me know who you are in the comments. After I gave up on writing news, I know I probably lost a lot of my audience. If you are new here, thanks for stopping by, and definitely drop a comment or visit me on IRC - I am always on Techtronix.
