[Tutorial] How to change the default search engine in the Firefox address bar

The other day I told you how to change the default search engine for Opera, so that the set engine will be the one used when you type in the address bar. You can also do the same with Firefox as well.

Similar to Opera, you can set your default search engine for the search box. For the address bar the search engine used is Google, using it's HTTPS search feature. If you wish not use Google and use something else, you'll have to get your hands dirty. You'll have to make a change in about:config, and then the change will be effective immediately.

Accessing Bing Background Image via Google Chrome

A few hours ago I posted an article on how to get Bing's background images easily on Internet Explorer 8. Today's tutorial is with Chrome. With Chrome we are using the web inspector, and it really is almost as simple as Internet Explorer 8. I did another video tutorial on how to do it. You can follow the steps in the video and/or look at the instructions below.

Bing Download Wallpaper Button Appears Again

Earlier today I posted an article that covered how to download Bing wallpapers in Internet Explorer, the real easy way. This article will cover how to download the Bing wallpapers for those that did or are willing to connect their Facebook accounts to Bing. 

On Bing's homepage, there is a download button that can be use to download their images for free, for you to keep. The only catch to that is that you have to connect your Facebook account. If you have no issue doing this, then I'll show you how to quickly connect your Facebook account to Bing if you haven't done so already, and then you'll be able to download the wallpaper using the download button.

1. Go to the Bing Homepage
2. Click Connect now or you can sign in via clicking the download button on the page. You can also use the sign in link at the top right
3. Connect
4. Download your wallpaper.

After connecting the download button is located at the bottom right, near the bottom of the page. They look like the second image to the top right -- all the way on the right.

If you don't have a Facebook, don't worry. If you use IE8 I already have a tutorial out for you for how you can get around this.

Saving a Wallpaper from Bing using Internet Explorer 8

In a previous post I talked about one of Bing's images, and one of the reasons why I use Bing for most of my searches. I attached the wallpaper rather easily, and today I'm showing you how to download the Bing wallpapers using Internet Explorer 8. Don't worry if you use another browser, as I'll work on a tutorial on those later on.

As far as I know for now, this is the easiest way to grab the wallpaper. With other browsers you have to open up your web inspector to get the background image. You can still do so in Internet Explorer, but it's not required. A simple right click menu option lets you get the background as easy as possible, without having to use the web inspector.

Today's Featured Bing Wallpaper

I know that lots of you use Google as your search engine, but with it's upcoming removal of the ability to set a background for the Google homepage, I find that using Google as a home page less appealing now.

If you use Bing or not, you should know that Bing has a new wallpaper and/or video every day for it's background. Today's image involves space -- or so I believe. You can look at the image below, at the end of the post. It is the full resolution image, at least that is what I know of.

Metro-style Hotmail turns up in leaked screenshots

Lately, Microsoft has been Metro happy as some people say. Recently, Bing got a metro makeover. You can test it out right now actually. This time around, Hotmail is next in line for a Metro redesign. If a set of leaked screenshots obtained by WinFuture are any indication, however, it looks like the nearly sixteen-year-old email service could soon be getting one of its biggest redesigns to date. As you'd expect, it all looks very Metro, but also very unfinished, with a number of features reportedly still missing or not working properly. Of course, there's no indication when or if it'll actually roll out to the millions of Hotmail users (though the Windows 8 launch would provide a convenient fit), but there's plenty more screenshots where this one came from at the source link below.
