Techman's World Turns 7! 🎂🎉

Even though I don't post a lot, following annual tradition I'd like to announce that this site is now a whopping 7 years old! I can remember the birth of this place like it happened yesterday...I was awake around 1:22 AM fooling around on the internet on how to make my own blog/website, and I eventually started Techman's World on the Blogger platform. That said, every 18th of December adds another notch to the metaphorical rope that is the life of Techman's World.

Similar to last year, 2018 is also the new slowest time in the site's history. These days I think I've evolved in terms of writing here. I don't do many technology reviews anymore because I don't have funds to do so, and most trends I don't find too interesting to write about anymore.

I haven't written anything that I talked about in last year's post, I've noticed. That doesn't sound good on paper and it certainly doesn't sound good to me now that I'm reading it, but I can chime in a little on the LastPass -> KeePass stuff: I moved from KeePass 2 (the original application written in .NET) to KeePassXC, which is a cross-platform password manager that works with the KeePass database format. It's a native app written in Qt and looks great, even on Linux.

I don't think I'll ever end up writing about how terrible HostSailor is, mostly because they are such a waste of my time that I don't feel bothered enough to do it anymore. Just know that they are, and if anyone is interested in a short one-on-one story about them, just shoot me a message in the contact form.

Another small thing I did with Techman's World as well as Techtronix is migrate from Google Domains to Cloudflare Registrar. There was a brief period a few days ago when this site was 404, but I fixed it as soon as it became apparent to me. I could end up writing about that as well, although the transition was mostly seamless because I used Cloudflare DNS already.

Techtronix

However, Techtronix is still very much alive and well. I've launched a new site, powered by Google Sites, at https://www.techtronix.net. I chose Google Sites this time around mostly due to laziness, but I might eventually move it to GitHub Pages if I feel the need to. If any of you from the "original" days are still around (especially when I used to talk a lot about Disqus), hop in and say hello sometime. If you use your Disqus name I'll likely recognize you.

I hope you all are doing well. Here's to another year!
