Techman's World Turns 5! 🎂🎉

I really don't post a lot (and I should really stop saying that because it's well understood), but I don't forget the important things. If you wind the clock backs ~5 years, that's when this site was created. That said, every 18th of December adds another notch to the metaphorical rope that is the life of Techman's World.

Techman's World originally started out as a small .blogspot.com site, with a crappy logo that was made using Microsoft Paint. Since then, it's gotten a much higher quality background picture (although it uses the same colors as before), a better logo with improvements from the community, and much better content than recycled news.

Lately, this site has been running kind of slow in terms of posts. Why? Well, there's a few reasons for this, and some of them are easily solved while others are more or less Catch-22s.

  1. Writer's Block: I find it difficult to write things continuously, day in and day out, even if there's something interesting to talk about. I'll get about halfway through a post, realize that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense or isn't up to standard, and I'll promptly trash it.
  2. Technology desensitization: While I'm not sure if this term really exists, I think it should if it already doesn't. Through the years, technological advances have gradually become less interesting to me, and I don't exactly know why. Some of it is explainable, like in terms of smartphone advancements that have become more or less gradual and incremental, but other things like self driving cars aren't.
  3. Lack of product reviews: Vendors like System76 used to have partnerships with me where I could review their newest PCs and the like, but that partnership fell though apparently because of the old Lemur Ultra review and the performance of it, although I went back and cleaned up anything that would look "out of the line," which was nothing more than just minor grammar mistakes. Back then I was more focused on the actual machine than writing an academic-level report on it, but their CEO hasn't gotten back to me.
  4. Time: This one is really a no brainer, but I don't have nearly as much time as I used to back in the day. This partially ties back into the "writer's block" point because not having enough time doesn't leave me with much time to compose something good, which starts a vicious cycle.

Redshift is still something I have to write about on here (and I have the post saved as a draft), but it's gotten dusty since I've built it. When I have time I'll try to clean it out so I can finally finish that segment on the site. I know it's been drawn out much longer than needed (over a year), but the PC itself has been finished for a few months now. Sorry about this.
All of that said, I still make commitments to post here when I can, even if it's to announce that I'm still alive. That being said, I'm still found pretty easily here on the sister community that I run, Techtronix. You can chat with the rest of the community, as well as myself, by clicking the button up on the tab bar (or selecting it if you're on mobile).

Here's to another good year!
