[Discussion] Mail servers

Even though this isn't really news anymore, Microsoft decided to discontinue Windows Live Admin Center in favor of their Office 365 service. It makes sense, really: WLAC was free while Office365 is more tailored and costs money.

The sad thing about this is that while existing WLAC accounts will continue to exist, creating new ones will soon be disallowed. This is a bummer for me because I like to have the ability of creating accounts, etc. In the mean time, I am looking into solutions that could replace WLAC for my domain. Here's some criteria:

  1. It has to be free or low-cost
  2. If it has a nice installation method/GUI I would appreciate it
  3. It has to have a good reputation. No off-brand solutions unless they are just Linux packages, etc.
With that in place, if you guys could help me out, please let me know. I have heard of Zimbra and Axigen, and it looks like Zimbra is way too large and bloated to meet my needs. Axigen's free mail solution seems promising.
