System76 launches new ultrabook, the Galago UltraPro

Along with the recent refresh to the Gazelle Professional that happened earlier today, System76 also launched it's newest addition to their lineup, the Galago UltraPro.

This laptop is the first ultrabook that System76 has ever released, and it promises no compromise in performance, despite how thin it is. This laptop packs a punch with a powerful, yet efficient base configuration:
The new, custom made Ubuntu key on the Galago UltraPro

  • 14.1" 1080p HD IPS LED backlit display with matte finish
  • Intel Iris 5200 graphics with 128 MB eDRAM
  • Intel Core i7-4750HQ CPU (4th generation Haswell)
  • 4GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1600 MHz
  • 500 GB 5400RPM SATA HDD
  • Intel Centrino 2230 802.11 b/g/n WLAN with Bluetooth
  • (custom made Ubuntu key -- no more stickers over the super key)
The Galago UltraPro also features a generous amount of ports. It features HDMI and a Display port, 3 USB 3.0 ports, 1 ethernet jack, and 1 headphone and microphone port. Also featured is a SD card reader. As with other System76 laptops, the Galago features a built in webcam. The one equipped on this laptop is 1.0 MP HD webcam.

The only thing missing from this System76 laptop is the lack of different tiers of CPUs to choose from. This laptop only has one configuration for the CPU, as well as graphics. Other than that, I believe this is another strong offering from System76 that is sure to please buyers.
