System76 launches new Ubuntu-powered servers

System76 sent out an email to everyone subscribed to their press list (which includes me) about an announcement regarding a product launch. System76 has launched 3 new Ubuntu powered servers, running Ubuntu Server as the operating system (of course).

The new servers launched are the Eland Pro Pedestal,  Jackal Pro 2U, and the Jackal Pro 1U. However I'm not exactly sure if they are new, or just updated models. Based on the last part of the URL I believe they are model updates, but still new nevertheless.

The Eland and Jackal Pro 2U feature dual socket Intel Xeon E5-2600 series processors with RAID 1, 5 and 10 array options and up to 21 TB SATA III capacity. If "high density performance" is what you are looking for, System76 has a server for that too. The Jackal Pro 1U feautures dual Xeon E5-2400 series CPUs, up to 192 GB of triple channel memory and up to 9 TB of storage into a single rack space.

I should note that most of the info about the servers were direct from the press email, because personally I don't quite know how to put the specs it describes into real world performance, or anything from my background of knowledge.

Either way, the news has been delivered. You can click the links above to see the specific server page, or you can head over to their servers page, where it lists all the servers that they currently offer.
