Domain Registrar Companies - BlueHost

Earlier today I wrote an article about using web hosting companies, and the company I focused on was GoDaddy. I also told a wicked offer thanks to Jupiter Broadcasting, so if you are looking to buy a domain, you should definitely look into that offer.

I can't just cover one company, though, and call it quits. I have to keep going. Another popular company that is out there is BlueHost.

While I don't know that much about the company themselves, I do know that one of my favorite websites, PSNation.org, is hosted by them, at least ever since the last time I listened to a podcast that talked about their web host.

After reviewing their terms of service, I would not personally not adopt them as a provider of services to you. Either they have some questionable rules on there, or they are phrasing words in such a bad way that me. I had a hard time trying to read this terms of service. To me at least, it had a lot of legalese. Not to say that it is legalese in its true form, but it sure looks like it. You can see that page in the embedded frame below.

The bulleted rules, similar to GoDaddy's, is found in section 10. It is titled "Prohibited Uses" if you can find stuff easier by using CTRL + F on your keyboard. One of the reasons why I don't like this agreement is the policy of profanity. Quoted directly from the terms:

Profanity or profane subject matter in the site content and in the domain name are prohibited.
So if I can interpret correctly, they are saying to not put anything profane in the domain name, and on the site's content. Sounds a bit restrictive to me, but I am welcoming anyone to correct me if I am wrong.

If you read that section, it is basically the basic rules. You should know not to make threats to people, use BlueHost to hack people/deliver malware or other software with the intent to cause harm to someone, etc. The rules are a bit more specific, so it would be more accurate to read the fine print word for word, as I don't want to become responsible if you too my word for it and not theirs. Like I said, I am interpreting their words to gather an opinion.

I do not know if this is going to be the best host sensitive sites (you know you are), as they have some stuff about targeting people, and if they have rules on profanity and profane works, then I'm sure they have some sort of restrictions on other, more sensitive stuff.

At this point, these are the only 2 big web hosts that I know about, if you have additional people who I should look into, please let me know. This is helping me and you, as my own personal agenda can be used to share information on my findings with you, the community members.
