If you were watching my blog, you will have seen that I talked about an update for the Vita would bring PS One classics support. This was just a little piece of the puzzle, at least from Sony Japan.
A handful of PS2 titles, playable on all versions of the PS3, will launch in the Japanese PlayStation Store on July 25th. The first wave of titles include Biohazard Code: Veronica, Siren and Dragon Force, all priced between 800 and 1,200 yen. No news yet, however, on when (or if) a similar retro-gaming bounty will arrive outside of Japan.
This is good news for the PS2, because now we have at least some form of backwards compatibility. Of course you can't pop a PS2 disc into your PS3 unless you have the old generation that had hardware-based support, but now at least we will have some form of software emulation.
