Office 2013 drops support for Windows XP and Windows Vista

If you are a user of Windows XP or Vista, I have some bad news to deliver. Office 2013, the next upgrade to the Microsoft Office brand of Office products, will not offer support for Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Office 2010, released in June 2010, included support for both Windows XP and Windows Vista, but the latest version — expected to be released in early 2013 — will force users to upgrade to Windows 7 and/or Windows 8 to reep the benefits.

The Office suite of apps now includes some touch improvements for Windows 8 tablets and a host of new features across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. While it is controversial for Microsoft to drop support for XP, and Vista, the company's $40 upgrade plan might keep some users sane.
