AT&T and T-Mobile file request for FCC approval of spectrum transfer

Looks that AT&T is holding up its end of the bargain. For those that don't know, if the acquisition of T-Mobile failed, it would hand over spectrum valued at $1 billion. Once again, though, is the FCC the gatekeeper that holds the success of this transfer. According to the Wall Street Journal, the companies need permission from the Commission in order to make the handover work out according to plan, though we haven't seen a specific deadline set for the transition.

Engadget thinks that AT&T is for once hoping that the FCC says "no". What do you think?
